Hand Dyed Quilting
Artwwork by Jessica Schick
This is some dyeing projects I am working on. This one uses Ross Art Paste added to the dye so that I could paint with it just like regular paint.
This is a quilt that was recently completed by Sue Schmieden and myself. I did the dyeing/painting of the quilt top and backing and Sue quilted. This quilt will be traveled with Sue to various event during the fall of 2002 and was raffled off to help benefit a friend of Her's with cancer. You can fine a link to Sue's site at the botton of this page.

#1&2 show the process of me applying dyes to the fabric used for the top. It has been stretch on 2x4"s to keep it smooth.
#3 All the dyes have been painted on and are allowed to dry. You can see that the lower right corner is darker, because it is not dry yet. Below is the original watercolor I did as a sketch to work from. The black represents what will be quilted eventually.
This page will be slow to load, as I haven't gotten a chance to resize the files so that they will load faster. Sorry for the inconvenience.
#4 The quilt top has had some irridescent airbrush color added to it to make the dragonflies shine. The quilt top has also been marked for quilting.
